Always get a few quotes because pricing can be very different from one builder to another. Make sure they are not selling you plastic doors to keep the cost down.

The last thing I want to mention is the option to do it yourself. Multiply resource are avaliable online and in books that show you how to reface your cabinets by yourself. I have to warn you that the quality will look much less than a professional’s work.The simplest way to describe the process is : creating a thin skin out of a peice of vinyl or plastic and using an adhesive to attach it to the cabinet shell. This won’t help the value of your home and it might even devalue it.  The only advantage is instead of paying a few thousand dollars for a professional, you only have about $200 in cost.
