What cookers are available?
A cooker is something we only tend to buy once every few years; depending on how well they are made a good cooker can last many years without any trouble. It’s no surprise then that when faced with buying a new cooker we could be overwhelmed by the wide choice and myriad of confusing features that modern cookers may have.
The size of your next cooker can be a detail that may factor heavily in which cooker you go for, many cookers tend to come in the same depth and height but the width can vary drastically depending on the model you are looking at. Built in cookers which integrate into your cupboards or work surfaces are popular and can be more flexible with their placement and size as they are not stand alone appliances that need various supports and stands.
Free standing cookers tend to have a cooking surface for frying or boiling with either separate or combination grills and ovens underneath. This is a good choice as it is all in one appliance and requires little effort in the way of fitting and installing. Sometimes the grill will be at eye level above the hob which allows you to see how the grilling is getting on with ease.
The style of cooker will no doubt be a key decision to make as many people now take great consideration over interior design. There are modern contemporary or minimalist designs as well as classic designs perfect for a country kitchen theme. Further up the price bracket are professional cookers with multiple burners and even two ovens if there is enough space.
One other major deciding factor is which fuel to go for; this could be decided by whatever fuel you had in your old cooker or what fuels you are able to get in your home. Gas and electricity are the two types and both have their drawbacks and positive aspects. Gas is much more manageable than electricity on a hob whereas electric ovens are able to give a more even heating especially on the grill.
Some ovens are actually dual fuel meaning they take the advantages from both fuels and combine them into one cooker. They have gas burners on the hob and an electric oven underneath. If you have both fuel types then this is probably the best and most effective way to cook food but some houses or flats may only have electricity which whilst saving you money on gas bills it does mean you have to deal with the downfalls of electrical ovens.
Choosing a cooker can be difficult but you’ll find a wide range of popular brands online such as Hotpoint cookers and Beko ovens, both brands that are reliable and popular
